AWS launches a tool that automatically moves .NET apps from Azure to AWS
Amazon has made generally available a new AWS Transform feature that rewrites Azure-based .NET applications to run on AWS services. The modernization agent finds Azure SDK calls in the code and replaces them with AWS SDK equivalents: Azure Functions become AWS Lambda, Blob Storage becomes Amazon S3, Queue Storage becomes Amazon SQS, and Cosmos DB becomes DynamoDB (in preview for now). Before the run, developers see a report with the detected dependencies and a replacement plan they can adjust by hand. In effect, Amazon is offering Microsoft's customers a ready-made migration path, removing the biggest barrier to switching clouds: rewriting code manually. The feature is already available in eight AWS Regions, including Frankfurt and London.
